Each child gets a caring parent

Each child placed in SOS Children's Village gets his or her SOS mother, who builds a close emotional bond with the child, providing security, love and stability. Accepting each child as her own and sharing a life with him or her is a difficult, but necessary and indispensable part of living in SOS Children's Village. It is precisely for this reason that SOS mothers are the most fundamental and important link in the SOS child care system. Becoming an SOS mother requires creativity, independence and responsibility.

SOS mother is the one who has to create conditions for a functional family that operates on the principles of open communication, positive interaction and mutual tolerance, while showing understanding and respect for the individuality of each family member. Additionally, SOS mother is in charge of her household, where she has to ensure all conditions for happy and carefree childhood of children in her care.

SOS mother is the key member of the family that she builds with the children entrusted to her care, using all of her qualities and skills to create a welcoming, loving environment.
