What we do?

SOS Kindergarten Lekenik

SOS Kindergarten Lekenik belongs to a number of similar facilities that SOS Kinderdorf International builds in the vicinity of SOS Children's Villages around the world. The kindergarten offers various options and choices in programs and activities for children.

Basic work of SOS Kindergarten takes place in two preschool playgroups, with active cooperation of children’s parents. Our clients can choose between the whole-day, half-day or short programs, playroom, recreational programs or two creative sections – art and preschool sections.

SOS Children's Village CroatiaSOS Kindergarten Lekenik is the community of children and adults who jointly shape the activities in the kindergarten and thus contribute to children’s development.

SOS Kindergarten Lekenik works on the principle of open curriculum, realized as the process of sharing between children, kindergarten teachers and parents, who all learn together, searching for better ways of understanding different life situations and their own place in them.

SOS Children's Village CroatiaOpen curriculum consists of certain programs, activities and pedagogical methods that can help children understand and deal with many different situations in life. Such approach contributes to the overall development of children, helps them configure their own schedule, gives them encouragement, teaches them how to communicate and generally creates a stimulating environment for children.

In SOS Kindergarten Lekenik, teachers explore and modify their practice in partnership with children. This can only be done in an environment where every child’s developmental abilities and needs have been fully recognized. Rich and inspirational environment, freedom in choosing material, type and location of activity, freedom to choose playmates, unlimited time for play and free social grouping of children in daily activities all have a positive effect on children’s development and learning process.

SOS Children's Village CroatiaKindergarten teachers provide activities in which children of different ages can participate according to individual inclinations and needs, and they encourage children to think, to identify and solve problems, to nurture mutual communication. Such activities promote exploration, curiosity and desire to learn. They also foster creativity and contribute to children’s understanding of the world.
